If you want a safe, flexible choice that works in solo PvE, co-op, and PvP without requiring a specific team composition, Dewdrop is the most practical pick. Its well-rounded stat distribution means you will not feel punished for bad matchups.
If you care more about exploration, collection, and synthesis than competitive PvP, Breezeleaf is the best choice. Its Speed advantage means faster exploration cycles, and its utility options make it the most exploration-friendly of the three.
Early-Game Captures to Complement Each Starter
For Emberling players: prioritise capturing a water-type slime early to cover your Fire weakness. Tide Caller is the best option but any water type will do. After that, look for a Grass type to round out your coverage against Water-weak enemies.
For Dewdrop players: you have the most flexibility here. Capture whichever slimes appeal to you aesthetically — your balanced base means you can build in any direction effectively. Consider picking up an Electric type for coverage against Water.
For Breezeleaf players: add a Fire type as soon as possible to cover your Grass weakness. Embering is the obvious choice but any Fire type works. After that, consider a Water type for the classic Grass-Water-Fire triangle coverage.
